The Pride in Place Programme is the government’s flagship communities programme, providing up to £5 billion of long-term support to up to 250 of the most in-need communities. This was launched in September 2025 at the labour party conference. As part of the fund, 169 areas will receive £2 million every year for a decade, giving long-overlooked communities the certainty and control they need to plan for the future. A further 95 areas will receive an immediate £1.5 million to upgrade public spaces with new green spaces, play areas and sports and leisure facilities.
The previously announced Plan for neighbourhoods programme, which provided £1.5 billion of funding to 75 neighbourhood locations, will now also sit within this programme.
The Pride in Place programme therefore is providing a total of £6.5 billion investment over ten years. The goal of the programme is to empower communities to take back control of their local areas by investing in thriving places and stronger communities.
