We’re pleased to share a valuable training opportunity from the Living Knowledge Network that explores how libraries can foster meaningful connections between generations. This two-part webinar series, delivered by Generations Working Together, is designed to help library teams embed intergenerational work into their services, something community-run libraries are uniquely placed to lead.

Part 1: Understanding Intergenerational Work

Held on 26 November 2025, the first session introduces the principles and benefits of intergenerational practice. Lorraine George outlines the difference between multi-generational and truly intergenerational approaches, shares research-backed outcomes, and presents findings from the Creating Intergenerational Communities pilot. Participants will gain insight into how libraries can become spaces where generations learn from and support one another.

Part 2: Putting It into Practice

On 11 December 2025, the second session focuses on practical implementation. It features case studies from libraries already running intergenerational programmes, offering inspiration and guidance on how to start or strengthen your own initiatives. Topics include partnership building, inclusive programming, and evaluating impact.

These webinars are ideal for staff and volunteers in community-managed libraries who want to explore new ways of engaging older and younger people together whether through storytelling, gardening, digital skills, or shared creative projects.
