On 24 March, the National Year of Reading (NYR) launched a major UK‑wide advertising campaign designed to excite, engage and mobilise audiences around the transformative power of reading. Running from the end of March and throughout April, the campaign aims to make reading feel modern, meaningful and accessible for everyone.

At the heart of the campaign is the message “If you’re into it, read into it”, encouraging people to see reading as something that connects naturally with the interests they already love. Whether it is music, sport, film, cooking, gaming or wellbeing, the campaign presents reading as relevant, social and immediately rewarding, rather than something separate or intimidating.

For community managed libraries, this campaign presents a valuable opportunity to align local promotion with a high‑profile national message. With significant pro‑bono media support across cinema, digital, print, radio and outdoor advertising, the campaign will reach people far beyond traditional reading audiences, helping to spark new interest and conversations at a local level.

CMLs can share and amplify the campaign locally, whether by promoting the advert, creating displays linked to the “Go All In” theme, or highlighting reading materials connected to popular interests in your community. This is also an ideal moment to remind visitors that libraries are welcoming spaces where reading in all its forms is encouraged and supported.

By linking local activity to the National Year of Reading campaign, community managed libraries can help build momentum, reinforce positive reading habits, and show how libraries continue to play a central role in cultural life, learning and wellbeing.
