Residents of Enfield Island Village now have a vibrant new place to connect, learn and access support, following the successful launch of the Enfield Island Village (EIV) Hub on 14 February 2026. The Hub was established by a governing board of five local founder trustees, who worked together to create a welcoming, accessible and community‑led space at the heart of the village.
The Hub is located on the ground floor of Benedict House within the offices of Christian Action Housing Association (CAHA), who made the project possible by offering the space free of charge. Reflecting on CAHA’s involvement, CEO Aniekan Umoren highlighted the organisation’s long‑standing commitment to the community and praised the volunteers whose dedication helped bring the Hub to life.
To refurbish and prepare the space, the RSA Trust awarded a £20,000 grant, enabling the development of a fully functioning, self-contained community facility. Renovation work was carried out by CAHA’s valued maintenance contractor KBH Haus, whose contribution provided high‑quality improvements with notable social value.
Throughout the development of the Hub, Enfield Borough Council collaborated closely with the team. As part of the opening, the Council introduced a click‑and‑collect library service, making it possible for residents to continue borrowing books and accessing digital library services locally, an important step in maintaining library provision within the community.
Local resident and community advocate Sugar Ahmed supported the setup as part of the new charity’s volunteer trustee team. Reflecting on the launch, Ahmed said: “I am delighted to work with all our partners, funders and local residents to set up, offer library and other community services locally.”
Dr Hani Armstrong, CEO of the RSA Trust, praised the collaborative spirit that made the project possible: “We are proud to contribute to this wonderful project. The EIV Hub demonstrates our commitment to local residents. The project has been a true collaboration that will create a lasting impact in the community.”
Since opening, the EIV Hub has begun offering community library activities and helping local residents access a range of support services. With a long‑term vision shaped by local trustees, partners and residents, the Hub is set to grow into a vital focal point for connection, learning and community resilience.
The launch event, held at midday on 14 February 2026, marked an exciting new chapter for Enfield Island Village and the beginning of a new community‑driven era for the Hub.
