Poet Laureate Simon Armitage is continuing his UK‑wide Libraries Tour, offering free readings in libraries across the country as a celebration of the important role libraries play in communities.
For the 2027 tour, applications are open to libraries whose name or location begins with Q, R, S, or the Welsh letter Rh. Successful libraries will host a free reading by Simon Armitage during March 2027 as part of his mission to celebrate libraries as essential community spaces.
This is a unique opportunity for community managed libraries to raise their profile, engage new audiences, and take part in a nationally recognised literary event. Libraries whose names begin with letters later in the alphabet can also check the website to find out when they may become eligible for future tours.
Application deadline: 28 August 2026
